Meteora Rising Incubator Proposal

Summary

Over the past month or so, I have been contacted by over 20 projects and have conducted public demos for Starseed, Cleopatra, UltraLP, and MeteorAI. The purpose of this proposal is to better formalize the program and expand the Meteora Rising Incubator initiative. The quarterly budget for the initiative will be 12,000 USDC in salaries to support the initiative.

What is the Meteora Rising Incubator?

The Meteora Rising Incubator is a program designed to bring awareness of community tools to the LP Army and help those tools thrive and grow. The process is relatively simple:

  1. Build an awesome tool
  2. Share and onboard your tool to @GeekLad on Twitter or Discord, or via the Google Form below
  3. Get feedback from the Meteora Rising team, ship, get feedback from the LP Army, ship, repeat until you succeed

Helping Community Tools Grow

The goal of the Meteora Rising Incubator is to help community tooling teams get the users and the feedback they need to grow and succeed.

The process will follow a gradual progression based on the readiness of your tool:

  1. Upon receiving a new submission, the Rising team will first try out the tool and provide an initial round of feedback. We receive many submissions, so it may take some time for us to evaluate your tool.
  2. If your tool is ready for a public demo, we will showcase your tool to the LP Army so that more active LPs will use your tool and provide more comprehensive feedback. Tools that have completed a public demo will be added into the Community Tools and Dashboards list on the Meteora Resources page.
  3. If your tool has a high user base, a strong potential for growth and a clear roadmap, we will propose the Meteora team consider providing a grant to help you accelerate your growth.

Submitting Your Tool

You can submit your tool using this Google Form: https://forms.gle/oohXjU9ZDAgtMJGs5. The Meteora Rising Incubator team will add your information to an unpublished tracker and test out your tool.

Monthly Salaries

I currently work another full-time day job, so I will continue to work on this initiative part-time. Additionally, I will receive assistance from additional team members, Tuuxx and Foxtrot, who are also pioneer DLMM strategists and have prior experience with tools like the Honk Index and the DLMM Lookerstudio.

Role Name Monthly Salary
Meteora Rising Incubator Lead GeekLad 2,000 USDC
Meteora Rising Incubator Reviewer Tuxx 1,000 USDC
Meteora Rising Incubator Reviewer Foxtrot 1,000 USDC

Final Thoughts

This proposal ensures that teams building tools on Meteora get the ample support they need to continue to develop and grow their tools.

With a wave of robust DLMM tooling, we can help more LPs in their DLMM journey.

Let’s grow the LP Army!

i support the proposal - geeklad has made tools that I use everyday!

I do wish there was a way to do proposals without the $/month (but also understand if this is not possible cuz its to do with money and that the community needs to vote on it if its coming from the community side of the pool)

I bring this up because a lot of FUD has happened recently in jupiter because of the discussion of paying this or that to certain people and teams etc - those who are familiar witnessed that transparency is a double edged sword

I have been using your tool from months
You have been doing great for meteora

I support proposal
But you should take $3000-4000k
I have seen. People asking $5k
Even though you have full time job
You provide to much time to meteora and for development of meteora

That’s is really nice for community to know many more tool. Help ppl doing DLMM better, also improve community tool as well.

I totally support that

what about my alex guy, is he already in a core team or

I agree on what @kardass09 is saying, you should increase your comp @Tuuxxdotsol and @foxtroteth 's comp too, these are some good guys and OGs of the space.

Please do this or I suggest we should reject the proposal.

Dlmm is a learning curve so better process of Rowling out tools is a good step

Hi everyone,

I’ve just discovered this proposal, which I haven’t had the opportunity to discuss with @GeekLad yet.

First of all, I think the incubator initiative launched by @GeekLad is excellent and brings strong positive impact to the LP Army. The tools developed by the community are key assets to improve the user experience, optimize time spent, and increase returns from LP providing.

I’m grateful to @GeekLad for including me among the listed contributors and for proposing a compensation.

That being said, I’d like to share my perspective regarding both my current involvement and the associated compensation.

At this stage, I consider my contribution to be too limited to justify any monetary reward.

While I’m genuinely passionate about the topic—and there’s nothing more enjoyable than exchanging ideas with core builders and contributors of the Meteora community—it’s been very difficult for me to consistently dedicate time. I’m juggling a 60h/week job, the management of a friends-and-family fund that takes up an additional 20h/week, and my personal life with my wife.

So to me, there are two possible paths:

1. I continue contributing on a ā€œbest effortā€ basis, without feeling any obligation toward Meteora or the LP Army, and I decline any compensation.

2. I reorganize my schedule to carve out regular, focused time to bring real value to the incubator. In that case, I would suggest defining a proper governance model, including at least:

  • Weekly meetings with @GeekLad and @foxtroteth to align and plan upcoming actions
  • Weekly calls with the developers I support
  • Weekly or monthly community calls to co-present finalized tools with the builders
  • Facilitation of a continuous improvement process with key community volunteers who actively use the tools
  • Monthly meetings with the Meteora team to advocate for top-performing tools and explore potential grants to support future developments.

If we go down this second route, I believe compensation would make sense—but it should be more substantial than the amount proposed here, to make it worth prioritizing this work in my schedule and committing the time required.

I believe this incubator is a strategic initiative for the LP Army, and I’m confident I could bring strong value as a power user of Meteora and through my professional experience (I manage large-scale IT integration programs in a bank, so I’m used to supervising complex projects and delivering results).

That said, I fully respect the need for cost-effectiveness, and I leave it up to the community to assess whether I’m among the right persons to invest in at this stage.

Brilliant idea, my friend — I’m all for it! :sign_of_the_horns:

Hello,

I want to clarify that this response is not a personal critique, GeekLad. I use your tools and thank you for creating them. However, I am not in favor of the current state of the recent proposals.

I had already responded to Mario’s proposal, pointing out that this situation leads us to a point where everyone is asking for a salary, most of which are very significant, at $5,000 per month. If all your proposals pass, assuming no others are added, we would be looking at a cost of $24,000 per month, which amounts to $288,000 per year. That’s enormous.

Given that we know nothing about the revenue value generated by the Meteora project, how does it plan to pay for all this? There is no vote, and I read that the goal is to pass this through the DAO. At that point, we will pay with the MET token, I assume. Does this mean that the community will have to pay for this?

I am not saying that what you are doing is not good for the project, but I am saying that it is too expensive. Isn’t there a better way to use the MET token than establishing such high monthly costs to continue growing the project? For me, the answer is yes; there are cheaper solutions.

Returning to your proposal, you are proposing $2,000 for GeekLad, $1,000 for Tuuxx, and $1,000 for Foxtrot for part-time work. Is there really that much interesting tooling to examine that requires three people? I might be wrong, but I don’t think that for most of the year, you will have an enormous number of tools to review. I feel that once the process is in place, one or two people would suffice for reviews. Maybe the workload is significant, but I am not a developer and might be wrong on this point.

In conclusion, I think it would be wiser to reevaluate the costs and seek more economical solutions to support the growth of the Meteora project.

Best regards,

Dear GeekLad,

Thank you for sharing the detailed proposal for the Meteora Rising Incubator. I appreciate the effort to support the LP Army and promote community tools. While the proposed feedback process is valuable, I’d like to propose an alternative approach that leverages the community’s role in both feedback and tool adoption.

Instead of allocating the budget primarily to feedback roles, I suggest redirecting funds to incentivize developers directly. For example, offering monthly rewards to the top tools based on community usage or founders of existing tools could encourage more innovation and motivate developers to create high-quality solutions.

For the broadcasting part, I propose hosting a monthly event to add an engaging aspect for the community. The LP Army could vote on their favorite new tools (built within the last two months) and established tools (older than two months). The winning tools could then be showcased at the Meteora Boot Camp or another event to gather more attention, fostering excitement and driving adoption. This community-driven approach would highlight the best tools and strengthen the LP Army’s connection to the incubator.

Thank you for considering this perspective.
Let’s grow the LP Army together !

Where does the money come from? Im still a bit shaky where DAO approved Projects gets its funding? Are these Community Funds (not even sure this exists) or is it Meteora Funds earned from Fees?

Lets get this proposal passed!

ā€œDoes this mean that the community will have to pay for this?ā€

We are currently still in the early stages in the growth of the LP Army - all the funds used for these initiatives are purely in USDC, and from the team’s treasury. In this current stage, the team will support experimentation and help to kickstart initiatives like the Incubator - only down the line, when the DAO has been initialized, it can eventually take over the funding responsibilities.

Thank you for the clarification. As I understood earlier, if it’s the team making these decisions, it’s natural that we don’t have the final say. They likely want us to provide our opinions, and then they decide what’s best for the project. However, if this decision will incur costs for the DAO in the future, I hope it will be put to a vote. The community and the team, who hold tokens, will make the choices. I will present my viewpoint and arguments, and everyone will make their own choices, which is fair. But I hope that decision involving costs for the DAO will be subject to a vote  .
