MET & LP Army: Vision of the future of Meteora, LP Army and MET - questions of governance and alignment (Call for proposals)

Hello! My name is Gosha. Some of you may know me as an LP Army Mod — I have been around Meteora for a while. Although not as OG as some, I have been in the community for more than a year. In this time, I was always active in terms of communication with the community — speaking out on community calls, addressing concerns in tickets, helping out with Bootcamps, processing relief efforts and many more.

Throughout this journey I was always fascinated with the community we have. Fact of the matter is, in ruthless crypto-world of endless P2P, the fact that the community of such amazing people sprung here, was amazing, But not shocking — because the reasons were pretty clear. By learning together, by LPing together in near-empty pools we helped each other without making any “concessions” to our profitability.

LP Army since than has grown into a powerful, unstoppable force. Even through massive challenges like last February, we managed to stay united and committed to our purpose — growing Meteora’s users, and, crucially, make those users understand how LP works, growing alongside them. Achievements of the LP Army, given its relative size, are mind-blowing.

With the new leadership of Meteora, the LP Stimulus proposal was brought up to light. This does not mean we have reached our goals and something is necessarily happening soon — MET still requires Meteora (and us as the community) to reach goals established, and, supported, at least from my perspective, by the majority of the LP Army.

What is lacking from this - is the discussion on what MET will be, what impact it will have and how much are we ourselves ready. This discussion is really important. I would even frame it as one of the goals which should stand BEFORE any token release.

The primary focus of mine is relations between 3 entities: Meteora, LP Army and the token. These should be figured out — we must be ready. If we are not, we will face consequences in the form of disappointing the community, which we can not afford.

This is not a proposal itself — the draft I am refining is too big of the project to share yet, as my research extends to several protocols governance structures. I am currently in talks with several DAOs to figure out how they manage themselves, trying to understands both their successes and failures.

My project-proposal will go in 3 stages:

Establishing goals (Call for community contribution) > First draft, arguments for specific approach, brainstorming > Final, “Grand Draft” which will look like constitution-like document (see point 2 below, “Defined rules”)

Overarching goals:

  1. Effective, straightforward governance. A lot of protocols face lackluster holder participation, while those that do have it struggle with too much voting and clumsiness.

  2. Defined, predictable rules. Major DAOs with billions in stake seem to be plagued by “uncertain” rules of protocol governance — this negatively impacts everyone. Defined rules on the other hand ensure community & holders are certain in how they participate and how DAO works.

  3. Strategic alignment. This means creating space of maximum alignment of Meteora & LP Army & token itself. Remember, in a big difference from other places, Meteora is a constant source of additional revenue or even a full-time job for some in the LP Army. We should ensure that we align these stakeholders in.

My initial thoughts are:

  1. Keeping LP Army as leading community and the main stakeholder of MET DAO, preserving it structure while incorporating MET token into it and allowing holders to have a say in the community. This needs to be properly thought out.
  1. Figuring out the voting system — my proposal will incorporate “Delegation” initiative as opposed to ASR as a basis of voting, although I propose keeping ASR as well. Full explanation will come after refining it further and listening to the community. (Step 2)

  2. Making token not only empower LP Army, but also bring value to experience of LPing.

We as community should figure it out to be ready in future — this will be better off with a plan. Failure to establish this plan will have a negative impact on all of us.
Time is on our side - time for discussion, deliberation and time to deliver results. But time is not limitless - so lets start.

There are actually several things that need to be clarified: the exact launch date, the importance of the roles, and the conditions for obtaining these roles. Bootcamp graduates are receiving the private role, but there are no clear instructions on how to obtain the LP Army role. Currently, I notice that most of the LP Army and Private roles are inactive; the wallet activities and social media engagement of these individuals should be examined. The conditions for obtaining roles should be clearly stated, especially since Bootcamp participation has increased since January, and many people have been given the private role. However, there is no clear information about the advantages of the Army and Private roles. A more transparent structure would be accepted by everyone.

This is a bit outside of this particular proposal, but I will comment as someone directly participating in this.
LP Army “role” can not have conditions - as this is an honor bestowed to outstanding community members. Any conditions will be immediately gamed, so I believe this is a good approach.
As for “advantages”, there are none currently.
Any discussions about TGE should be centered on goals - not dates. Team has their own goals, we as community have them too. Once we reach them, we are ready. But not yet.

what are those goals? team should share them with us so that we can help achieve them.
even if we can’t help, at least we can see and estimate when they might be achieved.

LP army should be leading community , there is no doubt.

As to voting system it should include actual methods , delegation is one of them. As a user I like to vote through https://snapshot.box/ , some huge DAO votings hosted there.

You are doing a good job , good and balanced voting system in DAOs very important.

I think you are on point, the initial thoughts points are a good resume of what is need it in order to balance or at least keep the ball rolling, as you well said the alingment of few things needs to happend in order to make it a success, MET should be something more than just a token for the LP community and we all need to contribute for that to hapend. 100% with you and looking fwd to see your next release, thanks for been part of the community.

When it comes to the lp army role, private, and cadet. They are connected to the wallet used in the bootcamp. So having a way of checking the wallet to even see if it is actually involved any on met continuing after the role received should be looked at and maybe consider reversing to cadet or advancing to other roles as an ongoing basis. And then the met dao gives a 1%more value of just the vote to the higher roles. And maybe a tier system of contribution levels for voting and each tier has a certain amount of power to the vote. Where in a four tier system the top tier’s vote can still be overcome by the three bottom tiers and also the higher percentage by the votes of the lp army roles with the extra percentage.

I agree that the LP army role should NOT have conditions to prevent it from being gamed

My understanding of getting the LP army role is to contribute earnestly and help grow Meteora however you can. Not just bound to play calling and pure P&L.

i don’t think LP army private roles obtained from bootcamps should really count towards anything at all

It should just stay as a role earned by completing the 2 days worth of assignments.

With or without the role, the whole point of the bootcamps IMO was the education around LPing and DLMMing

I have experience working in Joystream DAO in HR Lead, Council roles.
Unfortunately, there were a lot of bureaucratic moments in the work of the DAO. It took a lot of time to fill in the weekly reports.
I would not want this community to get bogged down in bureaucracy.
Let’s talk first of all about how to develop the community, how to grow MET. There will always be time to play in bureaucracy
